The Oath

James Christensen

James Christensen’s artwork has been inspired by myths, fables, fantasies and tales of imagination. Applying his eye for the fantastic to people, landscapes and creatures (both real and imagined), Christensen has created a rich and strangely familiar world, rendered with elegant skill and detail. Christensen paints in a variety of styles, from the lush Saints and Angels series reminiscent of European old master works, like Madonna and Two Angels, to his whimsical and humorous works of satire like Resistance Training, Christensen art appeals to a broad range of collectors. Christensen says, "My aim always begins with a desire to connect with another imagination. My work is an invitation to let your imagination run wild, explore, and make interpretations spontaneously."
James Christensen was born in Culver City, California, growing up two blocks from the MGM studio where he and his friends often played in the back lot of the studio in Tarzan's pond or on sets for movies such as Gone With the Wind. James loved to tell stories and use his imagination in play and drawing.
Christensen attended Santa Monica City College, UCLA, and Brigham Young University, where he received his Masters in Fine Arts. After graduation, he worked as a freelance illustrator, but continued to work independently on his own painting. Christensen created fantasy images for his own amusement, but he only displayed what he thought other people would like. However, he soon discovered that others liked his imaginative, magical worlds as much as he did. The universal predicaments of his fanciful characters touch a chord in their own lives and bring a wry smile of recognition. Poofy Guy on a Short Leash stars one of Christensen's overdressed, self-important little characters that deep down, we can all relate to!
Weaving dreams, hopes, fears, and humor into the fabric of everyday life, Christensen has created many enchanting works of art. "My paintings are meant to excite the imagination and invite the viewer to become a participant in the creative process," says Christensen.

Daddy's Little Girl
by
Greg Olsen

This gorgeous image by artist Greg Olsen is a sold out secondary market artist's proof  canvas measuring 11 x 14, 350 s/n, never framed, in mint condition.

Greg Olsen was born and raised in a farming community in rural Idaho. His parents were artists themselves, recognizing and encouraging his early love of drawing. As a boy, Greg Olsen often relied on his imagination for entertainment. Later, the devoted coaching of a high school teacher secured his passion and enhanced his technical ability. He studied illustration at Utah State University and, after graduating, was hired as an in-house illustrator in Salt Lake City, working on murals, dioramas, and simple paste-ups. After two years, he followed a friend's advice and began painting full time.

The art of Greg Olsen enlightens the soul and spirit of its subjects and inspires the hearts and minds of its viewers. Olsen's diverse interests are elegantly demonstrated in oil paintings that range from the realistic and historical to the whimsical. His brilliant, delicate portraits capture not only his subjects' likeness, but their spirit as well. Landscapes from America and around the world reflect the perfect beauty of the mind's eye. As an adult, his imagination captivates us with paintings that depict the best and brightest memories of his childhood.

Greg Olsen's biblical paintings are represented in religious temples in more than 20 countries worldwide. His work for the Pentagon and the National Collegiate Athletic Association required intensive research and strict attention to factual detail. While these historical paintings satisfy his desire to render works with a sense of permanence, his whimsical paintings afford him the freedom to transfer his imagination to canvas. Greg Olsen's philosophy on art is quite simple. He stated, "For me, I just always appreciated the beauty of art and the way it made me feel," he says. "Art's greatest purpose is just to make us happy. I take a lot of pleasure in painting and hope that pleasure is contagious to those who look at my art."
